1783-NATR setup checklist that prevents rework

This is a practical checklist for NAT based segmentation. Keep it simple and prove each step.

Before you touch the hardware

• Confirm which side is inside and which side is outside
• Write the IP plan and the NAT table in one page
• Decide your testing order (ping, then app access, then remote tools)

Verification sequence

1. Confirm link and speed on both ports
2. Ping inside devices from inside network
3. Ping translated addresses from outside network
4. Test the actual application protocol next (HMI, VNC, etc.)
5. Capture proof screenshots

Common failure points

• Wrong gateway on one side
• Duplicate translated IP address
• Firewall rule blocking the protocol (not ICMP)
• DNS resolving to non-translated address
